Helping to connect the Sunshine State’s more than 1.5 million veterans and their families with earned services, benefits and support are the more than 1,100 men and women of the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs. They play a major role in the direct infusion of more than $18.4 billion annually for veterans into Florida’s economy through federal compensation, education and pension benefits, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ medical services and military retired pay.
Florida offers unique benefits such as in-state tuition rates for veterans and their families using the Post-9/11 GI Bill®, several layers of property tax exemptions, expanded veterans’ preference, and extensive benefits, licensure and fee waivers for many activities and occupations. We also offer high quality care at our network of seven state veterans’ homes, with two additional homes in development in Port St. Lucie and Orlando.
In 1988, Florida citizens endorsed a constitutional amendment to create the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs as a separate agency charged with providing advocacy and representation for Florida’s veterans and to intercede on their behalf with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The Florida Veterans Foundation serves as the statewide lead organization for Florida veterans and their families by providing direct services and partnering with state and local governments, veteran service organizations, and educational institutions to improve their physical, financial, mental, emotional, and social well-being.
Supports the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs’ mission of advocacy; and,
Advocates for Florida veterans through local and statewide outreach to educate the public and governmental entities, increasing awareness on veteran-related issues.
Teamwork
The Florida Veterans Foundation team is one of the hardest working veteran advocate teams in the state of Florida. We are composed of a volunteer Chairman and Board of Directors.
The majority of the Foundation Directors are retired, military disabled veterans who donate over 40 hours per week of their time to assist and help guide Florida’s veterans through a myriad of issues veterans face today. Whether it’s access to healthcare, education, jobs, VA benefits or the like, our Directors are here to help.
Several Directors are trained Veteran Service Officers who know the extent, the meaning and the application of laws that have been passed by Congress in the interests of veterans and their dependents. Our Directors know the rules and regulations adopted by the Department of Veterans Affairs to clarify and implement those laws.

The Florida Veterans Foundation was founded in 2008 by the Florida Legislature and is supported by individual and corporate donations, grants, fundraisers and direct public support to help us faithfully execute our mission of providing emergency and support services and programs for Veterans and their families across the state of Florida.
The Freedom Foundation provides numerous programs and services to our Veterans.These programs and services includes a Food Pantry, administration of a Employment Placement Program entitled “Ready To Serve”, the operation of the “Veterans Temporary Housing/Shelter Program” for our homeless and displaced Veterans, a Veterans Emergency Financial Assistance Fund and our hosting of a free weekly Thursday luncheon, serving our Veterans a well deserved “home cooked meal”.
The Green Beret Foundation serves the Army Special Forces our nations most elite soldiers. We believe Green Berets are our nations greatest assets. Every day we honor our commitment to Green Berets past and present as well as their families by connecting them with the right resources to prosper and thrive. Because when these soldiers meet powerful opportunities, our nation’s most elite soldiers become our nation’s best leaders.
Our Mission
Heroes United to Heal Foundation Inc. has been created for the purpose of raising awareness regarding Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in the veteran and first responder communities. Funds raised will be given to other non-profit organizations providing services to veterans and first responders in need of services with the goal of erasing the stigma surrounding PTSD and ending the suicide epidemic in those communities. Funds may also be used to travel for the purpose of fundraising and raising awareness of our mission.

Sometimes sooner, sometimes later, everyone is different. That’s the frustrating thing about PTSD, it sneaks up on you when you least expect it. And NO, we are not weak. We are not thin-skinned. We are warriors. Every human being has a breaking point. We can erase the stigma and overcome this together!
The HOPE Project seeks to help bring hope and healing to wounded warriors, first responders, veterans, their families as well as to children, teens and adults who have been abused using horses, most of which have been rescued. The HOPE Project provides free Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, Therapeutic Riding, pastoral counseling and resources to those who have suffered trauma and may be battling PTSD.

The Texas Veterans Commission was created in 1927 as the State Service Office to assist veterans of the Indian wars, Spanish-American War and World War I. Our purpose has always been to act as the state appointed advocate of Texas veterans as they attempt to secure the benefits rightfully earned in exchange for their service in our nation’s armed forces.
We are able to do this through our eight program areas:
- Claims Representation and Counseling serves veterans, their dependents and survivors, in all matters pertaining to veterans’ disability benefits and rights. It is the designated agency of the state of Texas to represent the State and its veterans before the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
- Veterans Education Program approves all programs for Chapter 30, 33, 35, 1606, and 1607 federal educational benefits. Through an approval process, the Texas Veterans Commission ensures that institutions and employers are in compliance with federal guidelines and are qualified to provide the type of training offered.
- Veterans Employment Services offers employment services to Texas veterans and helps employers find qualified veteran job applicants. The goal of these services is to match veteran job seekers with the best employment opportunities available.
- The purpose of the Veteran Entrepreneur Program (VEP) is to foster and promote veteran entrepreneurship throughout the state of Texas. The Texas Veterans Commission, with the help of the Governor’s office and several prominent Legislators, passed Senate Bill 1476 in 2013. This allowed for the funding of a team of experienced business consultants to be available for any veteran in the state of Texas to consult with, free of charge to the veteran.
- Fund for Veterans’ Assistance is a program that makes grants to eligible charitable organizations, local government agencies, and Veterans Service Organizations (VSOs) that provide direct services to Texas veterans and their families.
- The Health Care Advocacy Department is a team of highly-trained Texas Veteran Commission staff, strategically positioned across the state to act as liaisons for Texas veterans in addressing issues involving Veterans Administration health care related services.
- In collaboration with the Department of State Health Services, the Texas Veterans Commission’s Veterans Mental Health Program consists of multiple initiatives focusing on peer support, clinical mental health care access, and community collaboration.
- The Women Veterans Program serves women veterans by helping them to obtain their benefits and services. We strive to raise awareness of women veteran contributions and services to our country and state, as well as inform and educate women veterans and their resource providers about the benefits and services to women veterans.
Through these program areas, the Texas Veterans Commission provides excellent service so that each veteran receives every benefit that they deserve. As a veteran works with our counselors, the quality of life for that veteran and their family significantly increases.
Today, Texas is leading the country by making sure each veteran is represented and cared for. The people of Texas have sent a clear message that the sacrifices made by veterans and their families are deeply appreciated, and that there is an agency that will stand by them and take care of them: the Texas Veterans Commission.
Serving our Rescue Warriors, Veterans, and Families
Mission Statement
That Others May Live Foundation (TOMLF) provides support to the U.S. Air Force Rescue community and their families. We provide full post-secondary education funding to surviving children of fallen Rescue Heroes and merit-based scholarships for children of current and past warriors. In addition, we deliver immediate tragedy assistance funds to aid families and provide visible & invisible wound support to our active duty, veteran warriors, and their families.

What is The K.E.Y?
Our intent is to bring everyone together, in hopes that we can help & continue to elevate others – as we are stronger together. The K.E.Y is purely a volunteer endeavor – we DO NOT charge any of the participants who join us. We plan & facilitate events for FREE that we feel our community can benefit from.
We provide/host workshops, presentations & panels for multiple entities that support our milcommunity. We aim to raise awareness & connect our community to one another globally.

MMCN is Maine’s official Joining Community Forces organization and works in partnership with MyVA Community. Together, they work to raise awareness about: Challenges faced by service members and their families, Resources that exist to help them, How they can help connect service members and their families to their Maine communities. |
Tribute To The Troops® is an organization of dedicated volunteers, supporters and participants that have joined together to raise awareness to the sacrifices made by America’s fallen heroes and their families. Their Mission Statement guides their efforts and continually reminds them of the importance of what they do. They invite you to explore their website, support their efforts, participate on their rides and family visits, and to help them convey their thanks to those who have sacrificed and all those who have served.
| If you are an Upstate warrior or family member, Upstate Warrior Solution wants to connect with you and help you thrive in the community. Whatever your current need may be – employment, navigating VA benefits, or simply meeting other warriors and military families in the Upstate – they want to support you. Their work is built on face-to-face outreach and case coordination. Their warrior advocates will help assess your current areas of need, connect you to their network of community resources, and help you generate goals and actionable steps towards your next mission in life. |
Through USO Warrior and Family Care programs, the USO is building a continuum of care from the battlefield to the community to provide our wounded, ill and injured troops, and their families and caregivers a broad array of programs to help them throughout each stage of their recovery. In addition, USO Transition Services offers comprehensive support for service members and their families who are transitioning from military service. Transition Services offers a concierge approach, connecting individuals with specific resources and organizations within their new community that will support them on their path forward.
Today, we help active-duty service members across the globe build their next career using our cutting edge platform. We offer a personalized experience complete with a curated collection of resources from the world’s largest single veterans transition resource library. Our culminating goal is to equip service members for their next big transition, whether that is in academia, as an entrepreneur, or begin their role in the private sector.

VetsNet works with more than 75 agencies throughout Wisconsin counties and beyond to bring critical services to at-risk veterans and their families. Those partner agencies are veteran service organizations, state and federal veteran agencies, other nonprofit veteran and community social service agencies.
