We are dedicated to helping our military members and their spouses in the transition so they can find a successful landing after their service; whether that is higher education, a dream job, or the ability to start their own business.

How We Help:
American Dream U offers two main services for transitioning veterans: Online programs and educational workshop events.
American Dream U’s online programs are catered to helping veterans become successful professionals in the world of business, with breadth in courses; everything from entrepreneurship to the intricacies of setting up a LinkedIn profile.
American Dream U’s workshop events are fueled by the same purpose; offering unique, differentiating benefits when paired with the online courses such as networking and connecting with other veterans, as well as hearing personal success stories of post-service careers.

Who We Help:
Military, Veteran and spouses are our mission and the stats below reflect the need. Here at American Dream U, we believe that a smoother transition will go a long way in improving these stats in the future.

– 2 out of 3 new veterans will find it difficult to transition
– About 400,000 veterans remained unemployed at the end of 2017
– 22 – 28 veterans will commit suicide each day.
– Approximately 245,000 Service men and women will transition out of the military in 2018.

Center for Veteran Transition and Integration at Columbia University

Over the last decade and a half, Columbia University developed the most sophisticated and successful program at an Ivy League or highly selective private college or university for service members transitioning from the military to undergraduate and graduate education, the workforce, and civilian life.

During this time, Columbia has successfully enrolled more student-veterans than all other Ivy League schools combined, while maintaining a graduation rate above 90% and a record of job and graduate school placement that equals Columbia’s non-veteran graduates.

However, during this same period, it became clear that service members in transition continue to face barriers reaching their potential in accessing higher education and beginning meaningful careers, despite the many effective programs offered to this population. By drawing on the lessons and experiences gained working with service members in transition over the past fifteen years, the Center will be a national center of excellence, focused on ensuring transitioning veterans receive access to world class programming and support designed to maximize their potential in education and the workforce.

Columbia University launched the Center for Veteran Transition and Integration to have a direct and lasting impact on the issue of veteran transition and upward mobility by creating and providing access to the best-in-class tools and programming veterans need as they transition from active service to college and the workforce.

Content Creation
Utilizing a team of educational technologists and instructional designers, the Center creates robust online educational programming that facilitates transition from service to academia and the workforce.

Program Delivery
The Center identifies and partners with universities, employers, and veteran support organizations that are capable of delivering the Center’s research and content directly to transitioning veterans nationally.

National Impact
The Center provides national program management of all educational content and delivery platforms as well as ensures quality control, provide measures of effectiveness, and collects data for follow-on research, program refinement, and additional educational modules.

CyberVetsUSA

About the Program
The state of North Carolina has partnered with Cisco, Amazon Web Services, NetApp, NDG, (ISC)2, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, and Onward to Opportunity (O2O), to offer CyberVetsUSA, a program that provides free training and employment opportunities to veterans, transitioning service members, National Guard and Reservists, and their spouses.

Offering the latest cyber courses and certifications from some of the industry’s leading tech companies, CyberVetsUSA is a skills-to-job pathway that aims to fast-track those coming out of the military into high-demand cyber careers.

The approximately 12- to 14-week training is primarily online and is offered by the above industry partners, who are also providing career resources and connections to job opportunities for those who complete the training and certification.

How It Works
Skills Assessment: Eligible participants who are looking to gain cyber employment in North Carolina should visit cs.co/CyberVetsUSA to submit their interest. Interested candidates can complete the interest form to receive a link to register for CyberVetsUSA. Once submitted, an enrollment advisor will reach out to determine the individual learning path and available training options.

Course Offerings: Cyber courses are available primarily as self-paced, online trainings to be completed within a 12-14 week timeframe. Depending on current skills, personal learning preference, and available time commitment, veterans will work with an advisor to pick the course that best suits them. Participants who successfully complete the program will be prepared for an industry certification and entry-level cyber positions. Training consists of the following six tracks:
Cybersecurity Operations
Network Security
Security Management
Operations/Technical Support
Software Engineering
Security Infrastructure

Veteran Support: During training, participants will gain access to mentors and virtual communities to enhance their learning experiences. In addition, career resources (including resume writing, interview techniques, and career exploration) will be made available to those who achieve a 30% course completion milestone.

Industry Certification: Once the course is completed, a free voucher is offered to the participant to obtain an industry certification for the related cyber course.

Employment Opportunities: Because employment is a key success metric for CyberVetsUSA, we want to ensure veterans have direct access to meaningful employment opportunities. Therefore, participants will be invited to join the Talent Bridge for Veterans job-matching engine, sponsored by Cisco, to build their professional profile and explore real-time job openings from hundreds of employers looking for qualified tech talent.

Program Eligibility
Program registration is open to individuals who meet the following criteria:

Current Military Status: Veteran, Transitioning Service Member (must be within 180 days of separation), National Guard, Reservist, Military Spouses.

Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs

Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs – Our Vision and Mission

Helping to connect the Sunshine State’s more than 1.5 million veterans and their families with earned services, benefits and support are the more than 1,100 men and women of the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs. They play a major role in the direct infusion of more than $18.4 billion annually for veterans into Florida’s economy through federal compensation, education and pension benefits, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ medical services and military retired pay.

Florida offers unique benefits such as in-state tuition rates for veterans and their families using the Post-9/11 GI Bill®, several layers of property tax exemptions, expanded veterans’ preference, and extensive benefits, licensure and fee waivers for many activities and occupations. We also offer high quality care at our network of seven state veterans’ homes, with two additional homes in development in Port St. Lucie and Orlando.

In 1988, Florida citizens endorsed a constitutional amendment to create the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs as a separate agency charged with providing advocacy and representation for Florida’s veterans and to intercede on their behalf with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Our advocacy increases federal benefits for Florida’s veterans, improves the quality of life for veterans with service-connected disabilities, and provides access to federally funded medical care for eligible veterans.

Florida’s Veteran Service Organizations

The Sunshine State plays host to many congressionally chartered Veteran Service Organizations.
