The American Red Cross chapters in the state of Arizona and the state of New Mexico merged to form one large region—Arizona and New Mexico Region. The American Red Cross in both Arizona and New Mexico will be celebrating their 100th Anniversary of the American Red Cross in their respective states.

Serving as a leading public benefit corporation, we will promote a system of community self-sufficiency and compassionate response when emergencies arise.

Our Mission
Heroes United to Heal Foundation Inc. has been created for the purpose of raising awareness regarding Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in the veteran and first responder communities. Funds raised will be given to other non-profit organizations providing services to veterans and first responders in need of services with the goal of erasing the stigma surrounding PTSD and ending the suicide epidemic in those communities. Funds may also be used to travel for the purpose of fundraising and raising awareness of our mission.

Hometown Hero Outdoors’ is a 501(c)3 charitable nonprofit with the mission of providing first responders, military service members, and military veterans with outdoor opportunities to assist in healing and building healthy relationships within the community.
These outdoor adventures are a form of recreational therapy. It’s a way to encourage these frustrated, stressed, and struggling individuals to get off the couch and onto the water, into the woods, or even up a mountain with like-minded individuals with similar backgrounds. This ultimately provides them with a strong community of supporters who will listen with understanding ears, celebrate their achievements, and be there for them through thick and thin.

The Mission
Hometown Hero Outdoors was founded with one primary goal – to extend our reach to every first responder, military service member, and veteran and ensure that they can temporarily escape the daily stress and frustration of civilian life through a safe outdoor adventure of their choosing.
By facilitating outdoor activities such as hunting in Alaska, camping in the Pacific Northwest, and fishing off the coast of Florida (to name a few), we give them the opportunity to:
– Connect with individuals who have experienced similar situations
– Begin the mental healing process through outdoor fun and relaxation
– Build a strong and positive support system for moving forward
– Conquer challenges, overcome obstacles, and settle into civilian life

Many military personnel today are frustrated with the transition process. Stories of submitting dozens, if not over hundreds of resumes, with no response are not uncommon. While Department of Defense (DoD) and non-military transition programs are focused on the skills required to transition, they have not resolved this frustration.

Our MasterMind cohorts take like-mined individuals who will meet on a regular basis to share challenges, receive feedback/ideas, and discuss/refine action plans. Our goal in this program is to build an accountability group within cohorts. The MasterMinds group would be implemented as “Top Off” and “Capstone” programs that would augment and enhance the current DoD provided Transition Assistance Programs

About Us
Many servicemen & women suffer physical and emotional injuries or the effects of Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) that may lead to problems such as broken families, drug addiction, depression, homelessness, and suicide…

But even if Veterans are not facing such issues, they can experience a healthy environment of camaraderie at our weekly music sessions, socializing and building friendships with fellow Veterans through music.

The program also allows Veterans to build confidence and demonstrate the skills they’ve developed through live performances throughout the community. We partner with the VA, VFWs, American Legions, local sports teams, and non-profits who invite us to participate in events and fundraisers.

Many Vets are reluctant to seek help because they worry about the “stigma” of PTSD following them throughout their lives, making it difficult to find a job and provide for their families.

Veterans freely participate in the Music for Veterans because it’s totally confidential and no records are kept on their participation in our program.

Our Services
Free weekly group music sessions are available to all Veterans and Military Personnel. If a participant can’t afford an instrument, one is provided. If you don’t play, we teach you.

Panhandle Warrior Partnership™ (PWP) is a veteran-focused, community-led initiative to proactively connect with all veterans and ensure access to quality resources and opportunities available in collaboration with the community. The Florida Panhandle is home to one of the largest concentrations of military installations and personnel in the country and while there is a well-knit support structure for active duty and their families; that support structure becomes disjointed and not easily navigated when our service members become veterans. An estimated 100,000 veterans reside in the communities of Northwestern Florida, “The Panhandle”. The larger cities within Northwestern Florida have a variety of support organizations and opportunities, but many veterans, especially in the largely rural areas that span the distance between the Panhandle cities, are not aware of them or the benefits they’ve earned. Veteran organizations are focused on direct services and do not have the capacity to proactively engage the veteran population prior to a need being identified. Additionally, community offerings within the cities can be unaware of what the veterans in the Panhandle are looking for and how to best support them.

ABOUT US

The Fire Watch is Florida’s fight to end veteran suicide. We are uniting our War Fighters and allies to swiftly activate local assets, stand watch, and build a life-saving network. To date, no city, county, or state has systemically reduced its veteran suicide rate. This effort is the first of its kind in the country.

THE PROBLEM

Veteran suicide is a growing crisis. At least 20 U.S. veterans are taking their lives every day. To date, solutions to prevent suicide have been inadequate at best. In particular, federal solutions have had little to no effect on the crisis on the ground here in Florida. Given that Florida is home to over 1.5 million veterans, the need and the challenge are evident.

THE ORIGIN

Based upon the success and experience of Florida’s non-profit K9s For Warriors, the nation’s largest provider of service dogs to disabled American veterans in preventing veteran suicide, The Fire Watch recreates on a regional scale the support system and inter-connectivity required to keep our veterans safe from taking their own lives.

THE PLAN

The Fire Watch combats veteran suicide in two ways. First, we coordinate local resources with our many veteran service partners to assist veterans in crisis. Second, we are mobilizing a Watch Stander network of 10,000+ community members to learn to identify the risk signs of veterans in crisis and to direct those veterans to the help and resources they need. Our goal is to ensure our War Fighters never slip into crisis at all.

The K.E.Y is purely a volunteer endeavor – we DO NOT charge any of the participants who join us. We plan & facilitate events for FREE that we feel our community can benefit from.

We provide/host workshops, presentations & panels for multiple entities that support our milcommunity. We aim to raise awareness & connect our community to one another globally.

Non-profit (501c3), public foundation to serve Veterans by reducing suicides, homelessness, joblessness, and effects of PTSD and other emotional struggles and disabilities.
