Hometown Hero Outdoors

About HHO
Hometown Hero Outdoors’ is a 501(c)3 charitable nonprofit with the mission of providing first responders, military service members, and military veterans with outdoor opportunities to assist in healing and building healthy relationships within the community.
These outdoor adventures are a form of recreational therapy. It’s a way to encourage these frustrated, stressed, and struggling individuals to get off the couch and onto the water, into the woods, or even up a mountain with like-minded individuals with similar backgrounds. This ultimately provides them with a strong community of supporters who will listen with understanding ears, celebrate their achievements, and be there for them through thick and thin.
Our ultimate vision is to have a future where Hometown Hero Outdoors assists all first responders, military service members, and veterans in conquering the challenges they face as they attempt to integrate into society. If you want to help us, use the Donate button below or Contact Us to learn about Sponsorship Opportunities.

The Mission
Hometown Hero Outdoors was founded with one primary goal – to extend our reach to every first responder, military service member, and veteran and ensure that they can temporarily escape the daily stress and frustration of civilian life through a safe outdoor adventure of their choosing.
By facilitating outdoor activities such as hunting in Alaska, camping in the Pacific Northwest, and fishing off the coast of Florida (to name a few), we give them the opportunity to:
– Connect with individuals who have experienced similar situations
– Begin the mental healing process through outdoor fun and relaxation
– Build a strong and positive support system for moving forward
– Conquer challenges, overcome obstacles, and settle into civilian life

Love Hope Ranch

RESTORING HERO’s & REUNITING THE FAMILY

The most painful injuries are not always visible.  Whether it’s Post Traumatic Stress (PTS), combat stress or any other mental health condition, we are here to help you get through it.  Every veteran and 1st responder affected by PTS has unique challenges and goals.  We provide a variety of programs and services to help these individuals take the steps each day needed to put trauma and pain behind them and pursue a brighter tomorrow.

LOVE HOPE RANCH operates to provide tools for healing and restoration for the entire family.  Our programs will allow our veterans the opportunity to make strides to positively change their lives and others affected by PTS.  Our program model addresses the physical and mental health needs of each individual.

Are you someone affected by or experiencing PTS? Can you imagine your life free from fear and anxiety? Know that PTS does not have to be a lifelong disorder. Healing, Restoration and Recovery is possible.

This program is fully funded by donors and grants through our 501(c)3. There will be no cost for the veteran and family.

LOVE HOPE RANCH

Restoration camp gives the guests and family members the tools to overcome the obstacles they face in life.  In an all-male, all-female, couples retreat or youth camp, you’ll participate in activities such as interacting with horses, nature trail walking, fishing, camp fire sessions, outdoor cooking, scavenger hunts and more.  Through a multi-day adventure with PTSD trained professionals and fellow warriors, you’ll find yourself not only building strong relationships, but also healing, restoring your sense of self, and rediscovering a new YOU.

EQUINE THERAPY

Horses have been used as healing therapy since ancient times. The beauty and spirit of these animals is very much like our own: rough, strong, ready to run great lengths for freedom, however calm and peaceful inside. Through this therapy we will find a sense of peace, love, friendship, trust, and unity with our animal companion.

YOUTH OUTREACH

Our Youth Program offers fun filled options for your child to make memories that will last for a lifetime. We make time for outdoor fun, art creation, healing moments with Jesus’ teaching, self-development, athletic obstacles for team building, and more.

MARRIAGE RESTORATION

Trauma affects everyone in its path. It is vital that we understand that this state of mind is only temporary. By learning to embrace each other’s needs thru grace, patience and forgiveness, we can bring back the peace, love and spark that you once had within your relationship.

RELAXATION & TRANQUILITY

Our minds and bodies tend to get away from us at times. In order to regain control and find inner peace, we must enter a state of relaxation. The quiet and stillness is critical for our mind, body and soul to align. Are we really out of control, or do we just feel like it?

We are the only one in control of our thoughts and feelings, so it is up to us to maintain a healthy body and sound mind. With a little restoration and polish, you can feel brand new. With a little vulnerability and trust, you step out of the dark loop of trauma that plays over and over.

Nine Line Foundation

About Us

Nine Line Apparel was co-founded in 2012 by two brothers and US Army Veterans; CPT Tyler Merritt, CPT Daniel Merritt and Myles Burke. Their vision was simple, to create a high quality clothing brand to be enjoyed by Patriotic Americans around the globe. In the past few years, their brand has grown exponentially and they have decided to give back to the community they once served thus forming the Nine Line Foundation. Nine Line represents the grit and commitment of all Patriotic Americans. The term itself is iconic within the Armed Forces to represent a distress call to aid service members wounded in battle. The Nine Line brand has a similar call to action. Founded on the principles similar to other value based organizations, Nine Line aims to promote the issues faced by all those who have served their country. Nine Line encourages a conversation between those who serve and those who support them by creating a lifestyle brand that brings the two communities together. Nine Line is committed to creating Jobs here in America. We have made a conscious decision to move away from foreign made materials wherever possible. In 2017, Nine Line opened a 60,000 sqft facility in Savannah, GA. Although remaining profitable is the tenant of all successful business, we have innovative ways to ensure this occurs while returning manufacturing to the US. We are perfecting our skills in the apparel industry and are always looking to expand to other markets.

Mission

Our mission is two fold. 1. Raise awareness of the harsh circumstances our severely injured service members and their families face once their life threatening injuries are stabilized. 2. Greatly improve the quality of life of our wounded heroes, focusing our efforts on the each individual candidate’s needs.

Leadership
CSM Martin “Gunny” Barreras was a well respected and revered leader to thousands that served under him. He led from the front, still participating in combat operations even when he did not have to. His primary goal was to develop young men into leaders of tomorrow. Gunny Died of Wounds (DOW) on May 13, 2014.

This really had a negative impact on all of his men, current and past.
Fast forward to 2017 when Dan and James talk about a new solution to help military personnel stay connected with one another. After a couple of years of testing, research, and modification, Project Refit has landed on its new strategy of the hybrid model, combine technology and in-person support to meet the modern military member and family where they are both online and off.

Warrior Transition Outdoors

Who We Are

It began as an idea over a decade ago.

The seed for Warrior Transition Outdoors was planted in 2010 while our co-founder Gavin was on tour in Afghanistan. Many of the soldiers around him were talking about life after the military. They recognized a gap between what resources and help the Military offers and civilian life. Many of their comrades expressed feeling alone in the civilian world. No matter how intertwined they became in civilian life, they would always be a Veteran — a person who signed the dotted line knowing they very well could lose their life for that decision, yet moved forward anyway in service of their country. Not many people can relate.

Gavin and a few of his fellow soldiers kept talking about their love for the outdoors and how they could use this passion as a transitional service for Veterans, not only to connect with other Veterans and find resources for their next life stage, but also to simply be outdoors and allow Mother Nature to do what she does best to us in our trying times — provide clarity.

Years would pass. Gavin and his brother and co-founder Gabe continued to talk passionately about the project, knowing one day it would become a reality. And thank God for those years! They discovered core components to include in the organization, like the Family Advocacy division, met key connections, and found themselves in Montana, a place truly known for its natural splendor. The seed had been sown years prior and finally found fertile soil in Montana where it is taking root as Warrior Transition Outdoors.

A Waypoint is where troops come together to reset, refuel, and recharge; enabling them to continue and complete their mission successfully.  That is exactly what we want our outings to deliver by providing camaraderie, adventure, physical challenges, mental empowerment, and lasting clarity.

Our logo symbolizes the top half of a compass – N, NE, NW – because forward is the direction on which we must focus. The circles represent the ripple effect that we hope to initiate through the clarity and healing that our adventures provide.
