About the Program
The state of North Carolina has partnered with Cisco, Amazon Web Services, NetApp, NDG, (ISC)2, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, and Onward to Opportunity (O2O), to offer CyberVetsUSA, a program that provides free training and employment opportunities to veterans, transitioning service members, National Guard and Reservists, and their spouses.
Offering the latest cyber courses and certifications from some of the industry’s leading tech companies, CyberVetsUSA is a skills-to-job pathway that aims to fast-track those coming out of the military into high-demand cyber careers.
The approximately 12- to 14-week training is primarily online and is offered by the above industry partners, who are also providing career resources and connections to job opportunities for those who complete the training and certification.
How It Works
Skills Assessment: Eligible participants who are looking to gain cyber employment in North Carolina should visit cs.co/CyberVetsUSA to submit their interest. Interested candidates can complete the interest form to receive a link to register for CyberVetsUSA. Once submitted, an enrollment advisor will reach out to determine the individual learning path and available training options.
Course Offerings: Cyber courses are available primarily as self-paced, online trainings to be completed within a 12-14 week timeframe. Depending on current skills, personal learning preference, and available time commitment, veterans will work with an advisor to pick the course that best suits them. Participants who successfully complete the program will be prepared for an industry certification and entry-level cyber positions. Training consists of the following six tracks:
Cybersecurity Operations
Network Security
Security Management
Operations/Technical Support
Software Engineering
Security Infrastructure
Veteran Support: During training, participants will gain access to mentors and virtual communities to enhance their learning experiences. In addition, career resources (including resume writing, interview techniques, and career exploration) will be made available to those who achieve a 30% course completion milestone.
Industry Certification: Once the course is completed, a free voucher is offered to the participant to obtain an industry certification for the related cyber course.
Employment Opportunities: Because employment is a key success metric for CyberVetsUSA, we want to ensure veterans have direct access to meaningful employment opportunities. Therefore, participants will be invited to join the Talent Bridge for Veterans job-matching engine, sponsored by Cisco, to build their professional profile and explore real-time job openings from hundreds of employers looking for qualified tech talent.
Program Eligibility
Program registration is open to individuals who meet the following criteria:
Current Military Status: Veteran, Transitioning Service Member (must be within 180 days of separation), National Guard, Reservist, Military Spouses.

A TRIBUTE FROM THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH
The Florida Department of Health is committed to serving members and veterans of the United States Armed Forces and their families. It is important that we recognize and honor their service to our nation. The Department is proud that over 1.5 million veterans call Florida home, and our continued goal is to make Florida the most veteran-friendly state in the nation.
Military veterans and their families face many challenges. The Department is committed to supporting our military veterans by offering several licensure support services to qualified military families. One service the Department offers is the Florida Veterans Application for Licensure Online Response (VALOR) process, which provides expedited licensing for honorably discharged veterans and their spouses seeking licensure in all health care professions. Veterans and spouses who apply through the VALOR process receive a waiver of most licensing fees.
The Department offers additional armed forces licensure support, including opportunities for physicians to receive a temporary certificate to practice in areas of critical need, renewal exemptions for active duty service members holding a health care license in Florida, and temporary licensure for spouses of active duty service members who possess a valid license in another state, the District of Columbia, or any possession or territory of the United States. Through these programs, we are creating a veteran-friendly regulatory environment that encourages veterans and their spouses to choose Florida for their health care practice after their discharge from active duty.
We are thankful for all who serve the people of Florida and the United States.
Florida Veteran Health Heroes
The Florida Department of Health honors veterans, active duty service members and their families by recognizing the 2018 Florida Veteran Health Heroes and highlighting the department’s veterans support services. Over 1.5 million veterans call Florida home and our continued goal is to help make Florida the most veteran-friendly state in the nation.
The 2018 Florida Veteran Health Heroes publication highlights health care practitioners who have served in the United States Armed Forces and the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service. This year, we recognize John H. Armstrong, MD, FACS; Paul B. Arthur, PhD, OTR/L, OTA; Paula Clark, MSW, LCSW, USAF (Retired); Derrick C. Glymph, DNAP, CRNA, AN, USAR; Stuart I. Kaplan, O.D.; Cathlene “Cathy” McGinnis, CLS(ASCP); and Carl H. Spear, O.D.
For more information about these exceptional individuals, please visit Florida Veteran Health Heroes.
The department also offers several licensure support services to qualified military families. The Veterans Application for Licensure Online Response (VALOR) System expedites licensing for military veterans who apply six months before or after honorable discharge from active duty, as well as fee waiver eligibility for military veterans and their spouses for health care practitioner licenses up to 60 months after honorable discharge. The department also offers additional armed forces licensure support including an opportunity to receive a temporary certificate to practice in areas of critical need, renewal exemptions and professional examination fee reimbursements.

What Sets Freedom Makers Apart?
Freedom Makers is composed of highly experienced and capable military spouses stationed all over the world. They are passionate about their work and assisting their clients.
Freedom Makers has three principles that guide everything we do:
1. Freedom
2. Transparency
3. Strive for Excellence
Freedom Makers offers freedom to both our clients and our Freedom Makers. We do not ask our clients to sign contracts that commit them to a minimum amount of hours or payment. We understand the cash flow of small business and want to be the help you need when you need it. We offer freedom in that our clients can hire a Freedom Maker for as many hours per week as they need.
Transparency guides Freedom Makers as we ensure that everything we do is communicated honestly to our clients. Our timesheets are shared openly with our clients so they can know what their Freedom Maker is working on and when. We require our virtual assistants to report to their client if they are moving or require extra time with a task. Being honest is of the utmost importance to Freedom Makers and our goal is to be transparent in all that we do.
Our Strive for Excellence is our promise that in everything we do, our ultimate goal is excellence. Freedom Makers is not here to be a hindrance for your company but rather a help. We have our Success Manager who follows our Freedom Maker/client relationships to ensure they are a success. If something arises, we will make it right. This not only goes for our client relationships but in everything we do as a company. We are constantly looking for ways to improve and make your experience as a client stronger.

Why is the Global SOF Foundation necessary?
The world is growing more volatile, unpredictable, and threatening. The conduct of war continues to shift: from large-scale clashes between nations to those characterized by unconventional methods, as well as long-term engagements with and against non-state transnational groups. Countering these globally networked threats requires a global “good-guy” network that can innovate and operate at speeds that traditional governments cannot. The Global SOF Foundation (GSF), a non-profi t organization, is forging this “good-guy” network among the world’s special operations forces (SOF). It brings together military, government, industry, and intellectual leaders from around the world for the purpose of advancing the capability and efficacy of SOF.
What does the Global SOF Foundation do?
The GSF fills a critical gap in the national security discourse: leading an effort to link like-minded public and private entities and to increase understanding of the role that Special Operations can play in addressing global security challenges, especially those emanating from unconventional and transnational sources. The GSF is not a traditional charity but a professional association for SOF dedicated to advocating for SOF globally.
Specifically, the GSF:
Convenes a diverse set of stakeholders interested in the future of global SOF and security through unique networking opportunities and strategic, thought-provoking forums as well distributed media:
Regular networking events in the U.S. and overseas
Annual Global SOF Forums and Symposia held in the U.S. and overseas
Regular newsletters, unique website content, and other distributed media
Educates global policymakers in order to ensure SOF maintain a comparative advantage and are resourced for success
Serves as the “go to” SOF organization outside of military and government, with a plan to establish a “think team” (as opposed to a think tank) in Washington, D.C. focused on the study of SOF and asymmetric warfare
Works to identify cutting-edge technologies; future concepts; and innovations in training and education in order to advance the current and future force, and support international SOF partners
Operation: GoodJobs, now in its fifth year, will continue to provide the tools and resources necessary to link veterans and military families with meaningful work so that they can gain the financial stability they deserve. MVAA is a state government agency and is housed within Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.
The agency works to identify and break down barriers veterans face in employment, education, health care and quality of life, making Michigan a great place for veterans and their families to call home. Unlike the federal Department of Veterans Affairs, which provides health care, educational, compensation and pension benefits, and more, the MVAA assists veterans and their families by connecting them to their federal resources and benefits, as well as those state benefits they have earned. The agency does this by working with various state departments and agencies, as well as hundreds of community-based veteran programs to create a no-wrong-door access to benefits and services.
Services provided by MVAA include:
The Michigan Veteran Resource Service Center (800-MICH-VET) and MichiganVeterans.com website provide one-stop access for veterans and their families seeking information, resources and staff support.
Michigan Veterans Trust Fund grants help combat-era veterans and their families weather unforeseen, temporary financial emergencies.

Who We Are
We are the #1 online resource for military-affiliated job seekers looking to attain a rewarding career and maximize their earnings.
Over the past 19 years, we have placed over 87,000 Veterans, Transitioning Military Members, National Guard and Reserves, and Military Spouses, into industry leading & high-earning careers. Our hiring numbers are verified by a third-party review by Deloitte, via the Call of Duty Endowment. 63,000 of our candidates have taken and completed our training courses.
What We Do & How We Do It
Military Spouse Jobs has honed a very successful, proven method for ensuring our job seekers connect with the career opportunities they deserve.
Our approach has three parts: people, technology and education.
People. Our people — all of whom are highly-educated veterans and military spouses themselves — get to know our job seekers personally. They work to understand a candidate’s military service, the skills they’ve acquired and how that translates to today’s job market. We then provide personal, high-touch, free job placement support, leveraging relationships with hundreds of leading national employers.
Technology. After we get to know our candidates personally, we tap into a world-class technology backbone which enables us to access over three million high-paying job openings, donated through DirectEmployers Association, plus view applicants and track hiring outcomes the same way top employers do. Further, we track our job seekers’ progress after we place them, helping to ensure they succeed. As they progress along and advance in their career – we’re right there with them to help as needed.
Education. For candidates who need extra support, we have developed top-notch training, educational tools, career development resources and mentoring. Our training team — which includes professionals who have developed curricula for prestigious American universities — works closely with each job seeker to guarantee they’re positioned to get the job they deserve.
Our Values
We believe a big part of what sets us apart is our core values, which were deepened through serving our country. Those values include:
Integrity – We don’t accept funding from any branches of the Military or the Government; our singular allegiance is to the job seekers we serve.
Respect – We have the deepest respect for those who are serving, have served, and surround those wo have served; that reverance guides every decision we make.
Commitment – We don’t think it’s enough to just help a veteran or spouse get a job. Nobody goes deeper, or stays involved longer, to help military-affiliated job seekers attain a rewarding career.
Focus – We have never strayed from our founding charter. If it doesn’t help active duty military, veterans or military spouses connect with a high-paying career, we won’t do it.
Efficiency – We are tirelessly devoted to ensuring every penny we spend advances our mission. Deloitte audits show that 96 cents on the dollar goes to that mission.
