The Data Center Facilities Engineer (FE) is responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center is operating at peak efficiency. This involves both planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response to emergent issues. The FE serves as an expert technical resource reporting to the Regional Director and interacting with onsite Engineering Operations Technicians (EOT) and any third party vendors. They are expected to be a singular focal point for all facility operations within a given data center. Data center equipment that supports mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, stand-by diesel generators, switchgear, UPSs, PDUs, AHUs, chillers, cooling towers, chemical treatment systems, pumps, motors, VFDs, and building automation systems.
Shift: Wednesday - Saturday 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Rate: $31-32/hr
Responsibilities:
- Operate building automation systems to provide desired plant output specifications.
- Perform daily building rounds, identify any equipment alarms, or abnormal conditions observed.
- Monitor and Interact with facility operation systems including but not limited to: Building Management System (BMS), Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Operate, replace, repair, and maintain all mechanical, electrical, control systems, air handling units, pumps, motors, heat exchangers, and expansion joints.
- Drain and "safe off" systems to facilitate repairs.
- Perform minor carpentry tasks, replace ceiling tiles, and repair or replace door hardware, locks, panic bars, etc.
- Perform minor electrical tasks including bulb and ballast replacement.
- Clean coils in air handling units and convectors to maintain optimum heat exchange.
- Assemble, install, repair, and maintain chilled and hot water systems.
- Operate and inspect emergency generators and associated components.
- Request necessary material to complete required repairs.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance duties including filter changes, lubrication, and checking controls and performance. replace bearings, motors, and dampers.
- Inspect mechanical and electrical systems, trace electrical circuits, operate switchgear, record inspections, and write reports to Supplier supervisors and management as requested.
- Perform any additional related tasks on an as needed basis to maintain the efficient operation of the facility.
- Receive and respond to service calls and provide reports to on a daily and weekly basis.
- Possess basic computer and information technology skills such as word processing, internet, and email.
Qualifications:
- Mechanical trades, trade school certification, or equivalent in applicable disciplines including but not limited to HVAC, electrical, hydraulics, plumbing; required license for equipment operation in a given municipality.
- Minimum of Three (3) years of experience in the operation of building central plant equipment, HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and / or electronic systems;
- Universal Certification as required for service work; OSHA 10-hour safety training certification; experience and proven ability to repair building electrical, plumbing and HVAC auxiliary systems.
- Experience and proven ability to safely secure hydronic and electrical systems for maintenance.
- Knowledge of operation of building auxiliary systems such as fire-life safety and standby emergency generators.
- Familiarity with general building systems such as vertical lift equipment and overhead doors
- Ability to write and execute written and oral instructions and perform arithmetic calculations
- Valid driver's license as required to drive any vehicles which may be assigned
- Strong knowledge of safe work practices and procedures typical for maintenance operations.
- Ability to safely wear a respirator, climb ladders, enter confined spaces, and lift heavy objects.
- Perform other physically demanding tasks; and ability to safely and skillfully use all types of hand and power tools.
The role is a full-time position and your base salary will be commensurate with experience but is expected to be highly competitive. The opportunity is located in La Vista, NE.
