Description
Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for a Database Administrator 3 opportunity for our customer in Los Alamos, NM to support the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).
Per diem: Available for those who qualify.
Location: Onsite/Hybrid, TA63, IT team may be deployed to customer or Central Park, etc.
Group/Organization: PMRC-IT (HK010C)
Work Schedule: 9/80, but flexible, on call occasionally, OT would be rare on exceptions

Clearance: Able obtain and maintain “Q”
Education
Requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience. Post-graduate degree and/or professional certification(s) and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Desired technical skills
- Expert level knowledge of relational or non-relational database management
- Expert knowledge of SQL, Linux
- Skills and demonstrated ability to translate technical terms.

Summary
Plans, designs, implements and maintains computerized database management systems throughout entire system lifecycle. Works with systems analysts and developers to design data model needed to meet business requirements. Develops and implements data structures. Establishes and maintains security and integrity controls. Defines and implements operational support procedures including backup and recovery. Performs operational support, which includes performance analysis and tuning. Formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to database management. Proposes and implements enhancements that will improve the security, performance and reliability.
Has wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Frequently contributes to the development and/or implementation of new technical standards and methods. Considered an expert in the field. Develops resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity and where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Work is accomplished without considerable direction and/or coordinates activities of other personnel. Exerts significant latitude in determining objectives of assignment, and determines the methods and procedures needed for new assignments.
Job Requirements
- Expert level knowledge of relational or non-relational database management, middleware/application administration, application delivery and/or application security.
- Expert level knowledge of SQL, Linux shell scripting, Powershell, Python or other relevant scripting languages.
- ORACLE DBA experience (desired)
- Expert level knowledge of core security concepts such as least privilege, escalation, defense in depth, authentication/authorization.
- Good knowledge of core networking concepts and troubleshooting.
- Expert level knowledge of Linux and/or Windows OS.
- Ability to translate technical terms to layperson's terms and present them to non-technical audiences.
- Skill in working closely with customers and other IT service providers to define expectations and mutual responsibilities.
