Although the Medal of Honor traces its origins back to 1861 it was not until 1958 that Congress and President Eisenhower chartered a specific organization to address the work and well-being of Recipients.

Veterans on Deck is a nonprofit sailing program serving the military community in and around Charleston, SC. This program is free and open to any active duty or veteran service members, offering several opportunities on a weekly basis to go sailing with fellow members of Armed Forces.
