As Payroll and Shared Services Specialist, you ensure that our 5000+ employees across more than half the states in the US are paid timely and paid correctly. You Support the entire payroll process, from gathering and processing the data to verifying the reports and being a customer service pro including researching and answering all payroll related questions. You also work closely with our Accounts Payable (AP) outsource vendor to ensure accurate and timely processing of all Accounts Payable (AP) invoices and serve as a cross-functional team member to drive department process simplification and efficiencies.

Work location: ATI Physical Therapy corporate support center in Bolingbrook, IL.

Work schedule: Hybrid, in-office 2-3 days per week.

Responsibilities

• Compile and enter payroll data on a bi-weekly basis such as hours worked, paid time off hours, prorating and retroactive salary and benefits in a multi-site and multi-state environment.

• Use knowledge and investigation skills to review wages computed and other paycheck calculations correcting errors to ensure accuracy of payroll, record changes affecting payroll such as tax withholdings, direct deposit information, dependent care reimbursement adjustments and miscellaneous deductions for employees.

• Ensure all staff movement records are properly authorized and recorded in accordance with procedure established.

• Handle payroll information with new hires, promotions, PTO, 401k, benefits and special pays like bonuses and stipends.

• Manage regular preparation of relevant management reports, including per pay period, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, overtime, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.).

• Manage entire garnishment process – including:

• Process Court ordered Wage Garnishments to include, but not limited to, federal and state levies, child support, student loans, creditor garnishments, wage assignments and bankruptcy orders.

• Set up and maintain garnishment payees in payroll system.

• Collect and maintain all withholding orders and track on garnishment log.

• Respond to interrogatories and agency/court requests as needed.

• Research and respond to routine inquiries from employees, attorneys, courts, federal and state agencies, and other third-party agencies regarding garnishment orders.

• Set up wage garnishment orders and verify accuracy of deductions (according to minimum wage guidelines), in a timely manner.

• Scan, process, and upload invoices to our outsourcing vendor on daily basis

• Provide support to the AP and PO process as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Education

Required:

• High School Diploma

Preferred:

• Associates Degree

Minimum Experience

Required:

• 3-5 years of experience in a medium-large scale payroll processing multiple payrolls including hourly, salary and per diem.

Preferred:

• Proficiency in automated payroll systems –Dayforce HCM preferred.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• The ability to solve problems and get to the root cause of any issue, no matter how complex, and design and quickly implement solutions

• Ability to respond to questions from management, vendors, and associates

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Accuracy with strong attention to detail
