Description

We are recruiting an Augusta, GA-based Operations Manager on behalf of our client; a warehousing and distribution company, to plan, direct, and coordinate the operations facility.

You will be responsible for planning and maintaining systems and procedures for operating efficiency and managing staff for optimum performance.

The duties of this job require a high degree of specialized expertise and skill in maintaining established standards of quality and accuracy.

You will drive determination and a self-disciplined approach to achieving results that meet these established criteria are necessary for successful job performance.

There is a need for someone who can exercise the necessary authority to assure policies and procedures are followed and time frames are met. At the same time, it will be necessary to give subordinates structured opportunities to develop their own expertise and capability for quality work to assure effective delegation and shared responsibility for work output.

It is expected that coaching and training support will be provided to direct reports for achieving effective delegation.

Responsibilities

  • Work within established standards and guidelines and expertise-based problem solving
  • Determine staffing requirements
  • Hire and train new staff
  • Supervise direct reporting staff according to overall company policy
  • Apply strategic planning to determine company, department, or unit objectives
  • Set employee goals and objectives
  • Monitor staff performance including performance reviews
  • Delegate work duties to staff to attain objectives
  • Allocate use of available resources
  • Evaluate current processes and systems
  • Plan and implement procedures and systems to maximize operating efficiency
  • Establish and maintain controls
  • Formulate department/unit policies and practices
  • Co-ordinate financial and budget activities for maximum operational efficiency
  • Facilitate the preparation and analysis of reports
  • Review performance data (financial, sales, and activity reports) to monitor and measure productivity, goal progress, and activity levels
  • Responsible for the achievement of department/division/unit productivity and quality goals

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of equivalent work experience
    • Work experience must be in an operations management/supervisory capacity in a logistics and/or supply chain industry
  • Knowledge of business and management principles and practices
  • Knowledge of strategic planning
  • Knowledge of human resource management principles and procedures 
  • Knowledge of basic economic and accounting principles and practices
  • Knowledge of office administrative procedures
  • Proficient in relevant software applications
  • Personality Traits
    • High standards and a disciplined and reserved personality.
    • Leadership based on specialty expertise Directive leadership to assure quality standards are met
    • Delegation is infrequently required, and when required, close follow-up is essential

Benefits & Compensation

Starting salary is $85,000 - 90,000 annually + bonus.
