Franklin Street is currently seeking a Paralegal to join our Team in Tampa through the DoD SkillBridge Program.

The Franklin Street DoD SkillBridge Program is open to all ranks, enlisted or officer. We are proud to help our nation’s service members make the transition from active duty to civilian life through specific industry training during the end of their service, up to 6 months. Service members will continue to receive military compensation and benefits through the Department of Defense. Upon completing the program, we aim to bring on every service member as a full-time employee.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Organizing and maintaining corporate and transaction electronic filing and paper filing systems and closing binders.
  • Assist in preparation of corporate resolutions, board minutes, qualifications to do business, certificates and related transactional back-up materials.
  • Preparation of board meeting materials and organization of quarterly board meetings and annual meetings or shareholder letters.
  • Assisting with entity formations, registration and renewal, and dissolution of company subsidiaries.
  • Ordering and organizing corporate status and formation documents for transactions.
  • Organizing, filing and tracking the status litigation matters.
  • Assisting with writing and delivery of correspondence and other legal documents to lenders and other business partners.
  • Creating and maintaining charts, databases, and tables to track pertinent operational and legal information.
  • Prepare confidentiality agreements, identify and summarize legal and business issues on proposed confidentiality agreements.
  • Maintain and assist in support of standard approved documents in corporate databases.
  • Assists the legal staff with projects as assigned.
  • Extensive calendaring of appointments, meetings, conference calls, court dates, etc.
  • Ability to book travel arrangements: air, car, and hotel.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced setting
  • Ability to learn quickly and act decisively preferred;
  • Above average telephone and communication skills including the ability to read, write, and comprehend English at a fluent and professional level required. Additional ability to read, write, and comprehend Spanish at a fluent and professional a plus.
  • Experience maintaining a filing system;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse groups and individuals preferred.
  • High degree of integrity, collaboration, and professionalism required.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain highly confidential information required;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects with changing priority.
  • Self-starter that works well under pressure and responds proactively to change.
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills are required.
  • Ability to follow documented procedures and standards.
  • Excellent time-management skills and the ability to take direction but work independently with little supervision.
  • Professional business demeanor and ability to handle confidential and time sensitive information appropriately.
  • Must be dependable and present a professional appearance.
  • High level of proficiency in computer skills including MS Office applications (Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, Power Point, SharePoint, Publisher) is required.
  • High level of proficiency in Adobe with ability to create fillable forms.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a legal assistant/paralegal working closely with senior level attorneys in a law firm or corporate legal environment required.
  • Knowledge of general accounting software; internet software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software required along with a willingness and ability to learn new software programs.
  • Ability to touch-type accurately at 50 wpm or higher required.
  • High school diploma required, undergraduate degree in Political Science, History/English, Paralegal Studies or related field and/or paralegal certification required.

DoD SkillBridge Eligibility:

  • Currently an active-duty service member
  • Is within 4 to 12 months of separation or retirement.
  • Will receive an honorable discharge.
  • Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS
  • Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months.
  • Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to the start of the internship.
  • Meets DoD SkillBridge Qualifications as per DODI 1322.29.
