Military Transition works to help service members, veterans, spouses and employers better understand and prepare for the military-to-civilian transition process and civilian employment. They provide relevant data and insights through interactive databases, infographics, and reports that help guide decisions about the transition and civilian employment.
Many military personnel today are frustrated with the transition process. Stories of submitting dozens, if not over hundreds of resumes, with no response are not uncommon. While Department of Defense (DoD) and non-military transition programs are focused on the skills required to transition, they have not resolved this frustration.
Our MasterMind cohorts take like-mined individuals who will meet on a regular basis to share challenges, receive feedback/ideas, and discuss/refine action plans. Our goal in this program is to build an accountability group within cohorts. The MasterMinds group would be implemented as “Top Off” and “Capstone” programs that would augment and enhance the current DoD provided Transition Assistance Programs

PATH STORY
It all started with a letter written by Claire and Rev. Charles Orr, calling for the community to address the ever-increasing issue of homelessness. In response, on the night of December 8, 1983, 60 people gathered together to figure out how to help people who were experiencing homelessness in their neighborhoods. On that night, PATH was born.
The group started by distributing food and clothing to people living on the streets. As homelessness continued to grow nationwide, research revealed that Housing First—a best practice model that first connects people to permanent housing and then focuses on stabilization through voluntary supportive services, proved more effective. Now, over thirty years later, we provide services in more than 140 cities in six regions, and have more than 1,500 units of permanent supportive housing completed or in the pipeline.
Across the state, we help people find permanent housing and provide case management, medical and mental healthcare, benefits advocacy, employment training, and other services to help them maintain their homes stably. Since 2013, we have connected more than 9,000 people to permanent homes.
OUR MISSION, VISION, AND VALUES
Our mission is to end homelessness for individuals, families, and communities. PATH envisions a world where every person has a home. Our values include creative collaborations, strategic leadership, empowerment for all, and passionate commitment.

About us
Helping people on their journey to a better life has been the mission of the Reveille Foundation since 2018. For many who are transitioning into a new community, rebuilding their life, or just want a fresh start can find it extremely difficult to locate and navigate programs and services. Some of these resources can take weeks, months and even years to navigate and unless you are familiar with the processes many get confused, overwhelmed, or simply give up.
That’s why we created the Reveille Foundation. We work with individuals to understand exactly where they are in all aspects of their life and together, create a plan for success. Transition to Trades
is an approved Career Skills Program (CSP) developed by Hiller Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electrical and U.S. Army Garrison, Fort Campbell. Transition to Trades, launched on July 5, 2016, allows transitioning service members the opportunity to attend Total Tech trade school (a subsidiary of Hiller, LLC) to learn valuable technical career skills while remaining active duty in the U.S. Military.
Total Tech offers a unique approach to technician training through classroom and hands-on laboratory instruction in a 15,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility. As part of the program, students are guaranteed an employment interview at a Hiller branch location of their choosing. Service members desiring to return to their hometowns are provided key industry contact information to aid in employment searches in those respective areas.
Our Mission
To provide active duty service members with solid, well-paying, respected career placement options as they transition out of the Army. Careers in Plumbing, HVAC, and Electrical are an ideal fit for transitioning service members because of transferable skills developed during their military service. Our goal is to pair these top-tier service members with companies looking to train and employ hardworking individuals for long-term careers.
The Transition to Trades program allows service members to utilize Post 9/11 or Forever GI Bills and start work within weeks, learning from experienced technicians in the field and in state-of-the-art laboratories. We also provide a business network of contractors in the industry who are looking to hire and develop talent in veterans. Transition to Trades is here to help veterans that are transitioning from active duty succeed in their careers.
About Jimmy Hiller
Jimmy Hiller has built an extraordinarily successful, multi-state business on a simple yet powerful concept, “Care is Our Core Value.” When he founded Hiller Plumbing in 1990, Hiller created a business model that focused on three essential elements: a high level of professional skill, a positive attitude and the integrity to do the job right. Customers responded to this straightforward approach, and he rewarded them with a promise that, “Happy You’ll Be or The Service is Free.”
In the years that followed, this two-time Southern Golden Glove boxing champion turned a one-man, one-truck operation into a regional leader, with more than 600 employees and 450 vehicles serving more than 30,000 customers across three states. Since the company’s founding, Hiller Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electrical has made more than a million service calls, and continues to grow at a double-digit pace, with the expansion of its service offering and through targeted acquisitions.
Jimmy continues to be actively involved in the day-to-day operation of Hiller, and has turned his focus to building a new generation of professionals whose commitment to the customer experience is driven by the core values on which his business was originally founded. That’s why Hiller created Transition to Trades. This program allows Jimmy to pass along his 33+ years of experience to transitioning service members who have sacrificed so much for our country.

U.S.VETS is the nations largest nonprofit provider of comprehensive services to homeless and at-risk veterans. With 20 residential sites and 9 service centers in 13 cities across 5 states, the District of Columbia and the territory of Guam, U.S.VETS provides vital housing, employment and mental health services to veterans and their families. Our Mission is the successful transition of military veterans and their families through the provision of housing, counseling, career development and comprehensive support. We provide services to over 3,000 veterans a day. Each year, we help 4,000 veterans a year find housing and connect over 1,000 veterans a year with full-time employment. These struggling veterans represent sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters. Each have served our country. We share both the pride and problems of this nation’s military servicemen and women and believe we have an obligation to help protect and serve those who have served and protected us. Because of this, we are committed to helping veterans in need. Of the veterans living in America today, 63,000 are chronically homeless. Although they represent a relatively small percentage of the general population, veterans make up nearly 20 percent of the homeless population. There is a growing generation of veterans with new challenges to face. In the past decade, two million troops have been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. As they return home, many will experience challenges adjusting back to civilian life. Roughly 300,000 returning troops currently suffer from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or major depression and anxiety. Additionally, over 320,000 individuals have suffered a probable traumatic brain injury during deployment. The need for support for our nation’s veterans will only continue to increase. Learn how you can help.
The Career Development Initiative (CDI) provides targeted career preparation, job placement assistance and job retention services to veterans with a focus on post-9/11 Iraq and Afghanistan veterans. The program expands veteran employment opportunities by growing the network of employers willing to hire these men and women when they complete their tour of service; identifies veterans’ skill sets so that appropriate career matches can be made; directly connects veterans to private employers; tracks employment for 12 months following placement; and collaborates with other nonprofit providers to achieve the greatest number of veteran placements. CDI is a priority for U.S.VETS as it empowers at-risk veterans to become self-sufficient, reducing the likelihood that they will become homeless.
Through LinkedIn, employers get the resume along with an understanding of the potential employee’s network, mutual connections, online presence, endorsements, recommendations/referrals and their personal brand. Who We Are
Veterans Transition Support (VTS) is an All-Volunteer San Diego and Orange County California based 501(c)(3) Nonprofit created in 2014 to help active duty service members and veterans bridge the gap between military service and civilian life through job training and one-on-one mentoring in career development, education planning and obtaining veteran benefits to launch their next career and prevent veteran suicide, homelessness, unemployment, and family disintegration. The Veterans Transition Support “Military Transition Training Program” provides no cost professional certification courses and transition resource briefs at the Wounded Warrior Battalion on Camp Pendleton, in San Diego and in San Marcos. Partnerships with the Easter Seals Bob Hope Veterans Support Program and the VetCTAP veteran career management program ensures that all program participants who register for one-on-one assistance are provided with individualized employment support and assistance with resume writing, interviewing techniques, and networking at no cost to the veteran.
What We Do
Veterans Transition Support’s (VTS) mission is to bridge the gap between the civilian workforce and our transitioning military service members and veterans before they experience transition road-blocks. VTS ensures our military service members reintegrate back into civilian life and the civilian workforce into careers suitable for their level of military experience and economic sustainability. This is achieved by providing service members with effective tools to translate their military experience into recognizable civilian job skills, civilian certifications to transfer military experience into its civilian counterpart, identifying needed training to fill skill gaps and one on one mentoring in four critical areas required to sustain a successful transition: Career Development, Cultural Adaptation, Obtaining VA Benefits and Education Planning. The VTS goal is to seamlessly transition all military personnel who enter the Veterans Transition Support program prior to leaving military service through individual mentoring, career management, counseling, and weekend and evening programs that close skill gaps and provide networking opportunities with civilian hiring managers.
Why Our Work Matters
VTS has proven with our successful testimonies, that reaching out to Service-members BEFORE they leave the service gives them a higher chance of success and a small chance of failure. Veterans Transition support fills the gaps often causing transition failures. We have proven that helping a Veteran BEFORE they fail by understanding the key areas that effect Veterans as they transition and focusing in Career Development, obtaining Veterans Benefits, Education Planning, and Cultural Adaptation in a one on one setting. We have proven that a Non profit can be fiscally responsible and meet the needs of a community and help those that depend on our help.
